Buildings are often judged from the outside. Architects know that how a building works on the inside is just as important as how it looks and that environmental efficiency is ever more vital.

• We expect buildings to use energy more sparingly these days. • We need buildings that are better to use and easier to sell.
• Architects who design-in energy efficiency will win more
..business.

In Nottingham architects have the opportunity to include in their designs heat, electricity and hot water supply from a local generator of environmentally friendly energy. Enviroenergy distributes energy generated when locally collected fuel - domestic and commercial waste - is burnt. We call this Nottingham Green Energy.

Our customers include the National Ice Centre, the Inland Revenue and Nottingham Trent University as well as over 4,600 domestic consumers. Electricity and heat are distributed to their buildings; they save money, they save finite fossil fuels and they save space in their buildings.

Nottingham Green Energy supplied to commercial premises is exempt from the Climate Change Levy because it is generated by a fully accredited combined heat and power supplier. Building owners can also make savings by trading carbon credits.

Enviroenergy is at the forefront of this type of green energy supply in the UK. In other parts of the world green energy is much more developed. In Helsinki 90% of all the city’s heat is delivered in this way. As Nottingham grows, more green energy will become available and as the city continues to develop architects will have more opportunity to design-in environmentally added value.
